Training on Stock Assessment of Finfish – 05–13 October 2026
ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR–CMFRI) is organising a focused hands-on training programme on “Stock Assessment of Finfish” from 05 to 13 October 2026 at ICAR–CMFRI Headquarters, Kochi, Kerala.
The training programme is designed for researchers and students to strengthen practical skills in fish stock assessment, fisheries data analysis, classical and modern assessment approaches, and interpretation of stock status.

- Length-based methods including FiSAT II, ELEFAN, VPA and yield prediction
- Growth, mortality estimation and gear selectivity
- Fundamentals of R programming and practical workflows for fisheries data
- Data-limited assessment using Catch-MSY (CMSY)
- Otolith-based age determination and microstructure reading
- Ecosystem-based approaches
- Biomass models and stock indices
