The CMFRI Library and Documentation Center fosters a dynamic learning environment for its fraternity. It serves as the central information hub for CMFRI and is intended to be the crux of academic data. The goal of the L&D Center is to offer cutting-edge data backup. The CMFRI Library, specializing in fisheries, curates a vast collection of both physical and digital resources. These resources encompass fisheries and allied subjects, authored by leading scholars and published by prestigious institutions worldwide. The library has been meticulously building this collection for several decades. Providing assistance with its research and knowledge-building procedures through top-notch materials and value-added information services in fisheries science and allied subjects. The Library and Documentation Center has made great strides throughout the years and has contributed to the Institute's rise to international recognition.The CMFRI Library boasts a comprehensive collection of physical resources exceeding thousands of journals dating back to 1947. It encompasses a staggering 16,500+ books and a wealth of other materials, including theses, dissertations, CDs, reports, proceedings, conference volumes, monographs, expedition and cruise reports, encyclopedias, atlases, navigation charts, posters, and miscellaneous publications. These resources delve into a vast array of subjects, including fisheries, marine sciences, oceanography, marine biology, ecology, nautical sciences, environmental sciences, biochemistry, genetics, and biotechnology. CMFRI's Digital Library functions as an armory of digital, audio, and video resources, catering to the needs of faculty, students, and researchers. This cutting-edge platform utilizes the latest technologies to provide seamless access to a wealth of information. The library leverages a robust discovery service that integrates with internal resources like Eprints@CMFRI, DSpace@CMFRI and external resources such as JGate@CeRA, IndiaAgristat.com Database, and the Food and Agriculture Organization's Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA), National Digital Library of India (NDLI). The Wiley E-Book database available in the CMFRI Intranet and the OPAC-CMFRI Library Catalogue available on the internet also add to it.Over decades, the CMFRI Library has meticulously assembled a vast repository of resources encompassing fisheries, marine sciences, microbiology, aquaculture, marine biodiversity, climate change, fish biology, fish nutrition, and marine ecology. This collection, meticulously sourced from across the world, serves as an invaluable resource for researchers and scholars. The library's core strength lies in its comprehensive collection of marine fisheries data. This curated archive forms the bedrock of research endeavors undertaken at CMFRI. The meticulously compiled data empowers scientists and researchers to delve deeper into critical aspects of marine fisheries. The CMFRI Library primarily caters to the needs of scientists and scholars affiliated with fisheries research institutes in India. The library's hardcopy collection serves as a focal point for research and knowledge dissemination within these institutions. Library coordinates the publication and printing of CMFRI publications. Stock and sale of CMFRI Publications is also maintained by the Library. ISBN, ISSN numbers, CMFRI publications etc. are also provided by the Centre. The CMFRI Library stands as a testament to the institute's dedication to fostering excellence in marine fisheries research. Through its unparalleled collection of resources and commitment to accessibility, the library empowers researchers and scholars to unlock new frontiers in understanding and managing our vital marine ecosystem Eprints@CMFRI is the Open Access Institutional Repository of ICAR- Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute.
Research outputs of CMFRI - journal articles, conference papers, reports, theses, patents etc. are uploaded. Users can freely download them from Eprints@CMFRI and also from internet search engines as it is indexed by the major search engines and scientific databases.

In addition, the CMFRI Newsletter, Marine Fisheries Information Service and the Indian Journal of Fisheries are published quarterly to keep everyone informed about the recent research and developments.
