International Yoga Day-2024 celebration at ICAR-CMFRI kochi
The celebration at ICAR – CMFRI, Kochi, marking the 10th International Day of Yoga with the theme “Yoga for Self and Society” emphasized the profound impact of yoga on young mind and bodies, highlights yoga’s dual role in fostering individual and societal well-being. The International Day of Yoga aimed to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.
The 10th International Yoga Day 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 21st June 2024 at ICAR– CMFRI, Kochi, in collaboration with Govt of Kerala – Ayush Homoeopathy Dept., Ernakulam Dist, Ayushman Bhavan by organizing a session on yoga and lifestyle diseases for the staff and raise awareness of the benefits of practicing yoga. The program commenced at 10 am to 12 noon in the Platinum Jubilee Hall of CMFRI 7th Floor, which was opened for the occasion and all yoga enthusiasts gathered to participate and perform yoga. The session included both theoretical insights titled: “Lifestyle diseases and control measures” and practical demonstrations of yoga practices, focusing on how these can effectively address and manage lifestyle diseases. To mark the day, the main function was attended by staff and the other concerned officials who participated in the yoga session. Necessary arrangements were done at the venue for the celebration of the Yoga Day with the digital banners and posters exhibited in the venue. The program proceedings were conducted by Dr. Vipinkumar V.P., Principal Scientist and President, CMFRI-Recreation Club, ICAR–CMFRI, Kochi with a formal welcome remarks. The felicitation and introductory remarks on Yoga session was done by Dr.Basima Muassam, Convenor, Ayushman Bhava (Lifestyle diseases project), Gov.District Homoeo Hospital, Ernakulam. The other officials represented the Homoeopathy dept. were Dr.Anisree Prakash, Dr.Remaya N.K., Ms. Mini K.K. and Sri Mathew Jacob. Followed by this, Dr.Anisree Prakash, Medical Officer, Homoeo Hospital dealt with the theoretical session on Lifestyle diseases and control measures. It was followed by discussion and doubts clarification by the participants.
Followed by this, the practical session on yoga was conducted in the adjacent hall which was led by the practical yoga trainer of Govt. District Homoeo Hospital Ms.Mini K.K. About 75 staff members attended the yoga practical session and there was a doubt clarification session also. The Director in charge of ICAR-CMFRI, Dr.Grinson George gave the final remarks and presented the memento as a token of appreciation and gratitude to Dr.Basima Muassam. A formal vote of thanks was expressed by Dr Vipinkumar V.P., to conclude the programme.
