
CAR-CMFRI Hosts Livestreaming of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Programme and Awareness programme on Innovative Mariculture Technologies
On August 2, 2025, the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) successfully organized a livestreaming event for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi programme, engaging 238 participants, including 150 farmers. As a part of this programme, an awareness program on Various Mariculture Activities was also held under the SCSP/TSP scheme of CMFRI, which featured an awareness on advanced aquaculture techniques, including cage and pen farming, ornamental fish culture, biofloc technology, mussel and oyster farming, and black soldier fly production.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Grinson George, Director of CMFRI, highlighted the institute’s innovative technological initiatives aimed at integrating more farmers into its research ecosystem. He emphasized the role of government initiatives like the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in bridging the gap between research institutions and farmers, fostering collaboration and progress.
Coordinated by Dr. Saju George, Principal Scientist of the Mariculture Division, the event provided valuable insights into sustainable farming practices. The training sessions, led by Dr. Rema Madhu, Principal Scientist, Mariculture Division, featured expert presentations by Dr. Madhu K, Dr. Rema Madhu, Dr. Vidya R, and Dr. Sanal Ebeneezar, fostering knowledge exchange and skill development among participants. This initiative underscores ICAR-CMFRI’s commitment to empowering farmers through innovative agricultural and aquaculture solutions.
