Former WHO Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan Launches Water Quality Initiatives at ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, former Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO) visited ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi. She unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at assessing water quality in Vembanad Lake and addressing waterborne infectious diseases.
Addressing the gathering, she highlighted major challenges to human health in the wake of a series of issues including climate change and anti-microbial resistance, saying that most of the emerging viral threats are zoonotic infections transmitted from animals to humans.
