Dr. Saima Rehman

Role : Scientist

   saima.rehman@icar.gov.in

Focus of Research :

  • Fish pathology and immunology
  • Aquatic animal health management
  • Fish transcriptomics and Metabolomics

Background :

Born in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, I commenced my journey with the Agricultural Research Service on January 1, 2016, as a scientist specializing in Fish Health. With a robust eight years of experience in aquatic animal health and disease management, my expertise spans across fish immunology, pathology, and comprehensive disease management strategies. During my PhD at Nord University, Norway, I delved into the complexities of diet-induced inflammation in zebrafish and pioneering the use of natural bioactive compounds for its alleviation. This research integrated advanced omics techniques such as transcriptomics, metabolomics and behavioral analysis.

Currently, my research focusses on the innovative aquatic disease management strategies particularly improving the efficacy of probiotics, prebiotics, and vaccines. By leveraging cutting-edge omics approaches, I aim to develop holistic and sustainable solutions to enhance the health and resilience of aquatic species.
