Focus of Research :
- Fishery, Biology and Stock Assessment of Shellfishes
- Bivalve Mariculture
Background :
After completing a master's in Marine Science in 2008, I worked as a project assistant in the CMLRE-funded project on ‘Demonstration of Pearl Culture’ from May 2008 to June 2009. Later, I joined the CMFRI headquarters in Kochi as a senior research fellow for the World Bank-funded project on “Shellfish Mariculture” from July 2009 to December 2014. I joined the ICAR service through ARS (101 FOCARS batch) on 01.01.2015. I served as a Scientist at the Fishing Technology Division of the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kochi, from 2015 to 2021. Later, I continued my service at the Veraval Research Centre of ICAR-CIFT from 2021 to 2026, focusing on the design and development of energy-efficient fishing systems for responsible fishing and sustainable fisheries management and the development of jellyfish bloom advisories. In February 2026, I joined as a senior scientist at the Mandapam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI. Thrust areas of my research include popularisation of bivalve mariculture and stock assessments of shellfishes and reef-associated fish species of the Gulf of Mannar & Palk Bay and formulating fishery management plans and conservation actions.
