Dr. Subal Kumar Roul

Role : Scientist & SIC

   subalroul@gmail.com

Focus of Research :

  • Fish Taxonomy
  • Fishery Biology and Stock Assessment
  • Fisheries Resource Management and Conservation

Background :

Completed Master of Fisheries Science (M.F.Sc) degree in 2012, followed by Ph.D. in 2018, both specializing in the discipline of "Fisheries Resource Management" from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai, India. In 2015, I embarked on my journey with the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), joining the 101st Foundation Course at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad. Following the completion of the foundation course, I was posted in ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), Kochi in April 2015. Initially, I was posted in the Pelagic Fisheries Division (PFD) of ICAR-CMFRI in September 2015 and later transferred to the Puri Field Centre of ICAR-CMFRI, Odisha in September 2017 where I worked till March 2021 before transferring to Digha Regional station of ICAR-CMFRI, West Bengal. My primary research interests revolve around taxonomy, fishery, biology, and stock assessment of marine fishes along the northeast coast of India. This area of focus allows me to contribute meaningfully to understanding and managing the diverse marine resources of the region.
