Focus of Research :

  • Hard Coral and Fish Taxonomy
  • Coral Reef Ecosystem
  • Climate change
  • GIS based modelling and mariculture engineering

Background :

I have done my Masters in Fisheries Science in 2008 from Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai.  Since 2009, I am working in CMFRI on marine biodiversity related studies. I am working to understand marine biodiversity along the Indian coast especially at the coral reefs around India. Being a researcher in biodiversity plus a certified scuba diver, I am looking for niches which are yet to be explored by any in marine ecosystems. I am also involved in assessing the climate change impact on marine fisheries and its mitigation aspects. We as a team, in Veraval Regional Centre of CMFRI is successful in the socio-economic upliftment of Sidi Tribals of Talala through skill development and establishment of sea cage farm off Somnath, Gujarat, India,
