Focus of Research :
- Marine finfish breeding and seed production
- Finfish mariculture
- Ornamental fishes
- Live feeds
Background :
I joined the Agriculture Research Service as Scientist in 2014. After completing FOCARS at ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad, I worked at the ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair from 2014 to 2017. During this time, I contributed to the development of freshwater fish farming and was involved in fish disease surveillance in the islands. I was also involved in the installation of the first indigenously fabricated galvanized iron cage (CMFRI design) to popularize mariculture in the islands.
I joined ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute in 2017 in Mariculture Division, Kochi. From 2017 to 2023, I worked at the Karwar Regional Station of ICAR-CMFRI. During this time, we successfully developed the induced breeding of vermiculated spinefoot, Siganus vermiculatus and black seabream, Acanthopagrus berda. Broodstock development, final oocyte maturation and breeding of Fanged seabream, Sparidentex jamalensis was also achieved. Since 2023, I have been working at the Vizhinjam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI.
